The house / A brief historyBefore the perfume,
Before the perfume,
a shared curiosity.
Desmond Knox-Leet, Christiane Montadre-Gautrot, and Yves Coueslant opened Diptyque at 34 boulevard Saint-Germain. Their shop brought together their own designs and objects discovered on their travels.
Fragrance became another expression of that creative partnership. Nature, travel, and graphic art remain central to the house’s identity, connecting the scent inside a bottle with the imagery around it.
